Das

Das Zentrum von Orta ist eine Fußgängerzone und es hat viele schmalen und malerische Straßen.
Die Hauptstraße ist parallel an dem Ufer des Sees und durchfahrt andere Sträßchen, die zum Sacro Monte (UNESCO Weltnaturschätze) oder zum großen Parkplatz gehen.
In der Mitte der Stadt liegt Motta Platz, dort kann man den See bewundern und viele Boote fahren zur Insel San Giulio ab.
Der Platz ist auf drei Seiten von Gebäuden umgeben, für die meisten Spielhallen.
In der Nordseite liegt Broletto oder die Gemeinschaftsgebäude der Riviera von San Giulio vom dem Jahr 1582. Sie besteht aus einem Vorbau im Erdgeschoss, der für den Markt benutzt ist, und einem Besprechungsraum auf der ersten Etage: hier ist die gesetzgebende Gewalt ausgeübt, es gab die Allgemeine Angelegenheiten, die aus Abgeordneten des Bischofs Anwesen besteht, und er ist das Symbol der langen Zeit der Selbstverwaltung in der Region.
Das Gebäude ist eine Mischung aus klassischen und rustikale Elemente wie die Fresken an der Fassade und der unregelmäßigen äußeren Skala und das Gebäude endet mit einem kleinen Glockenturm
Die aktuelle Rathaus von Orta ist Villa Bossi, mit einem schönen Garten mit einem Blick auf den See.
Gegenüber Broletto beginnt eine größe bergaufe Straße “Motta” (via Caire Albertoletti), sie hat ein Steinboden. In der Spitze liegt die Santa Maria Assunta Kirche, die im Jahr 1485 gebaut ist und sie ist in der zweiten Hälfte vom 17.Jahrhundert wieder aufgebaut.
In der Aufstieg gibt es alte traditionelle Häusern und einiges historisches Gebäuden wie Palazzo Gemelli, von dem 16. Jahrhundert. Es ist von ein paar Gemälde an der Fassade gekennzeichnet und auf der gegenüber Seite liegt der neo-klassizistischen Gebäude De Fortis Penotti.
San Giulio ist die einzige Insel im Lago Orta und es ist zirka 400 Meter vom Ufer entfernt .
Die Insel ist von dem ehemaligen Seminargebäude dominiert, das im Jahre 1844 auf den Ruinen der Burg gebaut wurde.
Das Priesterseminar nimmt heute das Kloster der Benediktiner Schwestern in Klausur, Kloster Mater Ecclesiae auf.
Auf der Insel liegt auch die Basilika von San Giulio, das wichtigste und romantische Gebäude von Novara.

The

center of Orta, completely closed to traffic , is characterized by narrow streets thats are very picturesque : the main runs parallel to the shore of the lake and intersects with some steep alleyways that run from the lake leading to the Sacro Monte (UNESCO world Heritage Site) or to the large parking area . In the center of town there is Piazza Motta, real living room overlooking the lake , from where boats depart to San Giulio Island . The square is surrounded on three sides by buildings well-proportioned, for most porches. On the north side is the Broletto or Palace of the Community of the Riviera of San Giulio, dating back to 1582 , consists of a porch on the ground floor , which is used for the market, and a meeting room on the first floor ; Here is exercised the legislative power , as well as by the Executive of the General Council ( composed of the deputies of the bishop’s estate ) and is considered the symbol of the long period of self-government in the region. The building is a blend of classic and rustic elements such as the frescoes on the facade and the irregular outer scale , small porch columns and roof in gneiss . The building culminates with a small bell tower. The current town hall of Orta Villa Bossi , with a beautiful garden overlooking the lake. In front of a large broletto starts uphill road called “Motta” (via Caire Albertoletti ), entirely paved with stones, on top of which stands the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, built in 1485 and rebuilt in the second half of the eighteenth century. The climb is lined with old traditional houses and some historic buildings including Palazzo Gemelli , dating from the sixteenth century, characterized by three different buildings , rounded border and a few paintings on the facade and on the opposite side , the neo-classical palace De Fortis Penotti . It is part of the town of Orta San Giulio, the only island in Lake Orta, San Giulio Island , which is about 400 meters from the shore. The island is dominated by former seminary building , built in 1844 on the ruins of the castle. The seminary today houses the convent of Benedictine nuns cloistered monastery Mater Ecclesiae . On the island there is is also the Basilica of San Giulio , the most important Romanesque monument of Novara.

centro di Orta, completamente pedonalizzato, è caratterizzato da viuzze strette molto pittoresche: la principale corre parallela alla riva del lago e si interseca con alcune ripide viette che si allontanano dal lago portando verso il Sacro Monte (Patrimonio Mondiale dell’UNESCO) o verso l’ampia zona dei parcheggi. Al centro del paese si trova Piazza Motta, vero e proprio salotto affacciato sul lago, dalla quale partono le imbarcazioni dirette all’Isola di San Giulio. La piazza è circondata su tre lati da edifici ben proporzionati allo spazio, per buona parte porticati. Sul lato nord si trova il broletto o Palazzo della Comunità della Riviera di San Giulio, risalente al 1582, costituito da un portico al piano terra, usato per il mercato, ed una sala riunioni al primo piano; qui si esercitava il potere legislativo, oltre che esecutivo per mezzo del Consiglio Generale (composto dai deputati del feudo vescovile) ed è considerato il simbolo del lungo periodo di autogoverno della regione. La costruzione è un connubio di elementi classici e rustici come gli affreschi sulla facciata e l’irregolare scala esterna, le piccole colonne del portico ed il tetto in beole. L’edificio culmina con una piccola torre campanaria. L’attuale sede del municipio di Orta è villa Bossi, con un bel giardino affacciato sul lago. Di fronte al broletto inizia un’ampia strada in salita denominata “Motta” (via Caire Albertoletti), interamente pavimentata in sassi, alla cui sommità è posta la parrocchiale di Santa Maria Assunta, costruita nel 1485 e ricostruita nella seconda metà del XVIII secolo. La salita è fiancheggiata da antiche case tipiche e alcuni palazzi storici tra cui Palazzo Gemelli, risalente al XVI secolo caratterizzato da tre diversi corpi di fabbrica, la cornice arrotondata e alcuni dipinti in facciata e, sul lato opposto, il neoclassico palazzo De Fortis Penotti. Fa parte del comune di Orta San Giulio l’unica isola del Lago d’Orta, l’Isola di San Giulio che dista circa 400 metri dalla riva. L’isola è dominata dall’edificio dell’ex seminario, costruito nel 1844 sulle rovine del castello. Il seminario ospita oggi il convento di suore benedettine di clausura Monastero Mater Ecclesiae. Sull’isola si trova anche la Basilica di San Giulio, il più importante monumento romanico del novarese.
